The storefronts shown here face 41st St. The two small towers to the right were torn
down by American Tower before it began construction of the new
756-foot tower. The concrete Western Union structure and the short,
rooftop-mounted tower behind it are on the American Tower site.
The tower on the left is owned by Allbritton/WJLA and is used jointly by WJLA and WUSA. Both stations
have stated they will not use the proposed new tower. The tower further back
toward 42nd St. (barely visible in the middle of the photo) is used by CBS
radio and pager companies; it is not owned by American Tower,
and its owner has said he has no intention of tearing it down.
